Kalimpong Science Centre has been established in Kalimpong, one of the Hill Sub-Division of Darjeeling District in the year 2008, conceived, designed and developed by National Council of Science Museums (Ministry of Culture, Government of India). It is knowledge-based organization of high quality and dedication; engage in popularizing Science and Technology among the general masses particularly, in students. Kalimpong Science Centre was inaugurated on 2nd October’2008 by Shri B. L. Meena, IAS, and Honorable Admistrator-Darjeeling Gorkha Hill council.

Second Anniversary Program of Kalimpong Science Centre:


Kalimpong Science Centre was inaugurated on 2nd October’2008 and therefore, Kalimpong Science Centre celebrated its 2ndAnniversary on 2nd October’2010. The Chief Guest of the day was Mr. S. Sada, WBCS, Secretary, Dept. of Finance-DGHC and the Guest of Honour was: Mr. Sangay Dorjee Bhutia, W.B.A. & A.S, Finance Officer-DGHC and Mr. Padam Singh Darnal, W.B.A. & A.S., Council Controlling Finance Officer-DGHC.On this occasion Centre had organized Inter College Seminar Contest with power point presentation where three colleges from Darjeeling district had participated. The topic for the seminar was “Global Warming and its impact in Climate Change”.
The name of the participating colleges was:
1.      Ghoom Jorebunglo Degree College, Darjeeling
2.      Cluny Womens’ College, Kalimpong
3.      St. Joseph’s College, Darjeeling
4.      Darjeeling Govt. College, Darjeeling
In this contest, the winning participants was:
1st – Master Prasanna Subba, Ghoom Jorebunglo Degree College, Darjeeling
2nd Master Prashant Lohagun, St. Josephs College, Darjeeling
3rd – Master Bishal Rai, Ghoom Jorebunglow Degree College, Darjeeling

On the occasion of Second Anniversary the centre felicitated to MrBhakta Pariyar, renowned artist from Kalimpong sub-division for his outstanding contributions in the field of fine art.
On the occasion of 2nd Anniversary, students from “Geeti Nrityam”, a Dance Institute, Kalimpong performed their “Nritya (Classical dance)” on the stage and Kalimpong Science Centre also presented “Certificate of Participation” to all the participants for their lovely performance and co-operation and the students the students were trained by Mrs. Subarna Pradhan, head of “Geeti Nrityam”, Dance Institute, Primtam Road, Kalimpong for this stage programme.
